Every piece of jewelry needs special care, attention, and love from the wearer to remain shiny and timeless. Here are some tips and guidelines you should know to take the best possible care of your favorite jewelry and keep it looking new for longer.
All the metals we use at Antelope Handmade are made from steel, zinc alloy (Zamak), brass, or tin. They are hypoallergenic, lead-free, and nickel-free (lead free & nickel free). The earring pin is made of titanium (titanium pin).
The gold color on the metals is due to gold plating (gold plated) with 24K gold, while the silver color is due to silver plating (silver plated) with 925 silver. Usually, for better durability, silver plating is done twice, and silver-plated jewelry behaves like silver.
ALL our products at Antelope Handmade have been tested under various conditions for their durability, so they do not wear out quickly. However, we must draw our customers’ attention to the following:
- Remove jewelry during tasks
It’s good to avoid wearing jewelry during manual tasks. Certain tasks, such as house cleaning, kitchen work, and gardening, could damage your jewelry, while contact with chemicals or other cleaning liquids would cause wear. - Wear your jewelry after makeup
Cosmetics, perfumes, hairsprays, and lotions often contain chemicals that can damage jewelry. It’s best to wear them after applying these products to limit their exposure. - Do not wear jewelry in pools and spas
It’s advisable to remove your jewelry before entering a chlorinated pool or spa, as it may react with the metal and cause discoloration or damage. - Do not wear jewelry when exercising
To ensure the safety of your jewelry, it’s better to remove it before going to the gym or engaging in any sport, as it may get damaged. Also, sweat has varying acidity levels: acidic sweat can damage jewelry. - Do not apply hand creams, soap your hands, or use sanitizer while wearing rings
Hand creams and soap sometimes seep into stones and dull them. The damage will be permanent. It’s advisable to remove your rings even when cleaning your hands with a hand sanitizer, as it may discolor the jewelry. - Proper storage of your jewelry
It’s a way to prevent any damage and keep them safe and well-organized. It also protects them from oxidation due to air exposure. - It’s good to part with your jewelry at the beach and in the shower. Water, salt, and shower gels can alter the plating, so it’s best to avoid them.
In general, avoid chemicals (pool, body creams, sanitizers, and perfumes). Your jewelry can look like new—as long as it hasn’t been damaged—if you wipe it with a dry soft cloth.
